In the darkest hour of a medieval war, The Maid of Orleans appears on the battleground, driven by a miraculous vision and a furious sword. The embattled French cornered in a hundred-year conflict of succession with England welcome the mysterious maiden, but friends, enemies, and unearthly forces
stand between her and the completion of her divinely-appointed mission.
Rarely produced in English, Strangeloop’s adaptation is a rare look into Schiller’s epic work in an intimate setting. Though belonging to a long tradition of tales featuring the historical Joan of Arc, Schiller’s interpretation provides a unique look at her story, exploring the nature of belief, fate, loyalty, determination and doubt through the wondrous and tragic life of this young girl who became a legend.
